Brazil international feels that Real Madrid C.F. had an extraordinary 2011-12 campaign, and had nothing but praise for top goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo
Marcelo has voiced his opinion that the 2011-12 season was an extraordinary one for Real Madrid after they won the La Liga title and broke a number of records.
The Spanish giants not only beat arch-rivals Barcelona to the domestic title, but also set a new record for the number of goals scored, and achieved a points total that no other team had previously managed.
“We had an historic and extraordinary season because, besides winning the title, we also broke many records, such as those in points, victories and goals,” Marcelo was quoted as saying by topmercato.com.
“The entire team made such progress that playing with them was like paradise for a player. Our confidence was so high that we knew it would be hard for others to stop us if we did our best.”
The left-back then went on to praise team-mate and Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo for his sublime performances last term.
“Ronaldo is a machine. He had a fabulous season. It’s amazing to score so many goals,” he continued. “I think he’s had the best stats of his career.
“He is a great team-mate and an exemplary professional. He trains extra and works hard.”
The attacker netted twice on Sunday to help Portugal to a 2-1 win over Netherlands at Euro 2012, securing a ticket for the quarter-finals in the process.
