Marcelo says farewell to Ronaldo

The Brazilian left-back has paid tribute to the football mastermind for his human qualities as much as for his skills on the field. Real Madrid’s icon Marcelo has toasted Cristiano Ronaldo as a supreme competitor and amazing team-mate following the Portugal star’s €100 million move to Juventus. Not many people could’ve guessed this would happen, but the ones who did and have put some money on it are probably happy, jump onto cozino free spins and try out your luck as well. Ronaldo ended his 9 year stay in La Liga at the start of July in search of a “new cycle” in his career which has included five Champions League titles. Four of those he won alongside Marcelo at Madrid with the duo forming part of a strong core that turned Los Galacticos into European football’s most dominant force.

From the day they started playing together, it was pretty obvious these two were getting along in a fantastic way, making Real Madrid’s left side extremely dangerous and threatening to every opposing team Los Blancos would face. The relationship that was built on the field eventually ended up with tying these two together in their real life, as everyone who had followed them could clearly realise. Year after year, this strong friendship just kept getting bigger and bigger.

In an emotional post on social media, the Brazilian defender expressed surprise over Cristiano’s decision to leave, but wished all the best for the 33-year-old and his family.

“I swear I did not think this day would come! But nothing in this life is forever, I hope you are very happy on your new journey. It was almost 10 years by your side, 10 years of joy, good football, victories, defeats and wonderful moments! I learned a lot from you, your dedication is the most freakish things I’ve seen in an athlete.”

“I will miss our talks before the games when you got the results right and before the finals reassured us with your experience and the love you gave the younger ones! I’m proud to have played with you, not because you are the best player but because of who you are. When I stop playing, I’ll sit at the bar and have a beer and tell stories and show all our photos.”

With Cristiano leaving Real Madrid, Marcelo will have to bond with a new left winger, whether it will be an old teammate, a newcommer as the young Brazilian star Vinicius Jr., or someone else. Madrid fans have nothing else but hope for someone to come up and perform like Ronaldo, as crazy as it sounds, and help this team’s left side to remain one of the most threatening forces in modern day football.
